Blade Runner
Japanese LaserDisc · 08JL-70008
A particularly strong archive object despite its modest market price: the first domestic Japanese LaserDisc issue of Blade Runner, one of the defining films of science-fiction production design and home-video cult collecting. The early Warner presentation, original OBI and surviving factory shrink/protective wrap make this copy materially more interesting than a standard loose example.

Edition details
First domestic Japanese LaserDisc issue of Blade Runner, catalogue 08JL-70008, released 25 May 1985. NTSC CLV, 117 minutes, pan-and-scan/full-frame presentation with Japanese subtitles. The photographed OBI prints a list price of ¥7,800; some older secondary references quote ¥7,400, so the physical copy is retained as authoritative evidence for this packaging variant.
Condition note
The jacket presents exceptionally cleanly and remains protected by its original shrink/protective wrapper. The wrapper is not factory sealed: one side has been split/opened to allow normal disc access. The OBI appears complete, bright and well protected beneath the retained wrap. The original Japanese insert is present and appears EX. Both recorded disc sides appear exceptionally clean in the supplied images; playback remains unverified.
Audio
English stereo · CX-encoded analogue tracks
Subtitles

Attribution / research note
Secondary references conflict on the audio specification; the source archive preserves this discrepancy. Playback remains unverified.
Why this object matters
The first domestic Japanese LaserDisc and retained OBI, insert and opened original wrap provide a strong early territorial record of Blade Runner's home-video life. The exact package supports Gold beyond the film's reputation; playback remains untested.
Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
