The public service

The Material Record provides an independent cultural catalogue and website. These terms cover use of those public services. The archive’s public contact is archive@thematerialrecord.org. No separate registered legal entity or postal address is asserted here.

Research and evidence

Catalogue descriptions and assessments may change as evidence develops. Retained sources, provisional information and disagreements should be read with the record. Archive Importance describes significance; it is not a market valuation, condition grade or investment recommendation. Check the record and its sources before relying on a description or assessment. The service does not promise that every object, edition, relationship or fact has been identified.

Citation and image rights

Link to the permanent TMR identifier and public record, and include your access date in a formal citation. Public availability does not transfer copyright or grant unrestricted reproduction rights. Rights in photographs and depicted material may belong to different people. Follow any explicitly stated licence and credits; otherwise ask about intended image use.

Responsible use

Use the website for lawful research. Do not attempt to bypass access controls, obtain restricted information, alter archive records or disrupt the website. Technical limits or temporary restrictions may be applied to protect service availability.

Availability and other services

The public service is offered without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability or error-free records. This statement does not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be limited. Linked third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices. The archive’s ResearchYour selectionprivacy notice explains its handling of requests. Contact support about corrections, access or service problems.
