Catalogue note
Original Buzz Records promotional flyer advertising the High Wycombe shop as 'No1 in the UK for Mail Order Hardcore'. The card promotes whites, imports, test pressings, mix tapes, rave tickets, record bags and slipmats and gives the Buzz Records order hotline and 19 Desborough Avenue address. A free record bag worth £25 was offered on orders over £50. The object documents the retail, mail-order and ticketing infrastructure around the hardcore / jungle scene.
Advertised programme: No named designer, illustrator or printer credit is visible. Buzz Records is physically printed as the retailer. Later specialist testimony connecting the shop to DJ Pulse / Creative Wax is treated as historical context rather than as an object-level printed credit.
Graphic-design significance: The front uses oversized condensed typography with the word 'HARDCORE' in red as the visual centre, surrounded by product categories and a large red cross. The reverse is almost entirely utilitarian, built around the Buzz Records logo, payment-card marks, order hotline and High Wycombe address. Its visual force comes from direct commercial typography rather than illustration.
Historical context: Buzz Records operated in High Wycombe as a specialist hardcore / jungle record shop and mail-order business. A surviving Fusion flyer from October 1994 lists Buzz Records, High Wycombe with the same 0494 436426 telephone number printed on this object. Later DJ/producer Madcap has recalled joining Buzz Records in the summer of 1995 and described the shop as associated with DJ Pulse and the influential Creative Wax label, showing the shop's role as a meeting point between records, promoters and emerging DJs.
Production note: Two-colour / limited-colour commercial print on white/light card stock; exact printing process and stock weight not established.
Condition note: Very Good appearance, ungraded. Light edge/corner handling and minor surface marks, with several small pin/staple-type punctures near the right side and isolated small marks elsewhere. Printing remains bold and fully legible. No major tears, folds or paper loss visible.
Confidence / uncertainty: The shop address, telephone number, opening hours, mail-order claim, product categories, free record-bag offer and payment-card acceptance are physically verified. The exact distribution date is not printed. The c. late-1994–early-1995 period is a reasoned attribution from the same phone number appearing in October 1994 event ephemera and the UK telephone-code change of April 1995. The promotional claim 'No1 in the UK for Mail Order Hardcore' is preserved as advertising language, not independently verified market leadership.
