publisher
Desperado Books
Creator-focused comics and art-book publisher founded by writer and editor Joe Pruett in 2004.
Overview
Desperado Books
Desperado was created by Joe Pruett around a creator-control model, publishing comics, graphic novels and substantial art books. Its early titles were published through Image Comics; the company later published independently and entered an arrangement for Desperado material to appear as an IDW imprint.
Why it matters
TMR’s interest in Desperado lies particularly in its artist-centred books, which preserve illustration and comics artwork in formats closer to retrospective monographs than conventional periodical comics.
