publisher
Warner Books
American trade-book publisher established in 1970 after Warner Communications acquired Paperback Library; the business was later renamed Grand Central Publishing.
Overview
Warner Books
Warner Books developed from the Paperback Library acquisition in 1970 and expanded from mass-market paperback publishing into hardcovers and a broad trade list. Following the sale of Time Warner Book Group to Hachette, Warner Books became Grand Central Publishing.
Why it matters
TMR retains the Warner Books entity because editions should be catalogued under the imprint actually present on the object, even when the publishing business later changes name or ownership.
