Biography
Person.
Steve Strange (1959–2015), born Stephen John Harrington, was a Welsh singer and club host associated with the New Romantic movement. With Rusty Egan, he ran the influential weekly night at London’s Blitz club, where music, fashion and art-school experimentation came together at the end of the 1970s.
As the singer of Visage, he became known for Fade to Grey and for a theatrical approach to dress and performance. His club and musical work connected a generation of young designers, performers and image-makers whose ideas moved from a small London scene into the broader visual culture of the 1980s.
