Biography
Person.
John Higgins is a British comics artist, writer and colourist whose career has moved between 2000 AD, major American graphic novels and creator-owned work. He contributed art and scripts to Judge Dredd and other 2000 AD strips including Chopper, Freaks, Future Shocks and Time Twisters, but became internationally recognised through colour work on Watchmen and Batman: The Killing Joke.
Higgins’s contribution as a colourist is especially important because it demonstrates how atmosphere, pacing and visual hierarchy in comics are shaped not only by line art but by decisions about hue, contrast and repetition across the page. His later work includes Vertigo titles such as Animal Man and Hellblazer, the creator-owned Razorjack and co-writing and art on Before Watchmen: Curse of the Crimson Corsair.
