Biography

Person.

Ian Brown is a singer and songwriter who became widely known as the frontman of the Stone Roses. The band's debut album helped define the Manchester music scene at the end of the 1980s, placing guitar music alongside a wider culture of clubs and dance music.

After the Stone Roses split in 1996, Brown developed a solo career that moved further into electronic rhythms and studio experimentation. Unfinished Monkey Business was followed by Golden Greats, Music of the Spheres and Solarized. His later recordings include The World Is Yours and My Way. Across these records, Brown retained a recognisable vocal presence while working beyond the musical framework of his original band.
