Biography
Person.
Lloyd Cole is a British singer and songwriter who became known with the Commotions in the 1980s. Formed during his time in Glasgow, the group recorded songs including Perfect Skin and Rattlesnakes, whose literary and cinematic references reflected Cole's interests beyond music.
He subsequently developed a solo career in the United States, working across guitar-based songwriting and electronic music. Later releases include Guesswork and On Pain, alongside instrumental projects and work with Hans-Joachim Roedelius. His recordings and live performances have continued to revisit the possibilities of a song without remaining fixed to the Commotions' original sound.
