Michael Sta. Maria

Michael Sta. Maria is a Filipino comics artist whose Marvel work includes Spider-Man, X-Men and Sabretooth: The Dead Don't Talk. Working with writer Frank Tieri on the Sabretooth miniseries, he co-created and designed Dragonfire, a character connected to the mystical city of K'un-Lun.

His drawing combines sequential storytelling with the development of characters for an established fictional world. In an interview about Dragonfire, he discussed the design process and his interest in the Iron Fist tradition, placing his own work within a longer history of Filipino artists contributing to American superhero comics.
