Biography

Person.

Geoff Johns is an American comics writer, producer and screenwriter whose career has been closely associated with rebuilding and recontextualising long-established superhero mythologies. Born in Detroit and educated in media arts at Michigan State University, he began working in Los Angeles as an assistant to film director Richard Donner before moving into comics.

At DC, Johns first gained attention with Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and the creation of Stargirl, then became one of the company’s major writers through long runs on JSA, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and other titles. His work often treats continuity not as a burden but as raw material: neglected characters, contradictory histories and earlier visual motifs are reorganised into new stories designed to make large fictional universes feel coherent again.
