Gayle Chong Kwan is a British artist of Chinese-Mauritian and Scottish heritage. Her photographs, installations and performances explore ecology, social history and the ways museums and archives organise knowledge. She often constructs landscapes and wearable sculptures from food, discarded materials and historical images.
Her projects have included a milk-bottle installation in a concrete underpass and a sensory banquet at the British Library. She studied fine art at Central Saint Martins and completed a doctorate at the Royal College of Art, developing research into how artistic interventions can question collecting and public participation.
