Christopher Lee (1922–2015) was a British actor whose career extended from post-war cinema to international fantasy films. After early supporting roles, he became a major presence in Hammer horror through The Curse of Frankenstein in 1957 and Dracula in 1958.
His other roles included Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man and the villain Scaramanga in The Man with the Golden Gun. Later audiences knew him as Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films and Count Dooku in Star Wars. He became a BFI Fellow in 2013.
