Biography
Person.
Frédéric Chaubin is a photographer and writer whose architectural studies combine historical research with large-format image-making. Formerly editor-in-chief of Citizen K, he has published, exhibited and lectured on architecture since 2000.
His book CCCP: Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed, first published in 2011, surveys 90 buildings across 14 former Soviet republics, emphasising the variety of late-Soviet architecture. Stone Age: Ancient Castles of Europe turns to medieval buildings, drawing on five years of travel and photography with a Linhof view camera. Both projects examine structures whose original political and social worlds have changed.
