Biography
Person.
Penny Rimbaud is a writer, poet, musician and artist who co-founded Crass with Steve Ignorant in 1977. His earlier work included experimental performance groups, and the shared creative environment of Dial House in Essex became closely associated with his practice. Crass combined music with an anarchist critique of authority, developing its ideas through records, imagery and independent publishing.
After Crass ended in 1984, Rimbaud concentrated on writing before returning to performance poetry with jazz musicians, including saxophonist Louise Elliott. His publications include The Last of the Hippies. Acts of Love brings his poems and compositions together with Gee Vaucher's illustrations and Eve Libertine's singing.
