Biography
Person.
Morrissey is an English singer and lyricist who became known as the frontman of the Smiths. His songwriting partnership with Johnny Marr combined melodic guitar music with lyrics about loneliness, desire and social alienation, establishing a substantial audience during the 1980s.
He began his solo recording career with Viva Hate (1988), followed by albums including Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I. His public statements have also attracted controversy: his support for the far-right party For Britain drew criticism in 2018–19, while he denied accusations of racism.
