Biography
Person.
José Casanovas was a Catalan comics artist whose work appeared in British publications over several decades. Although widely associated with science fiction through 2000 AD, he also drew extensively for girls’ comics, including Jinty and Tammy. His strips included the animal-centred Dora Dogsbody and Tammy’s science-fiction story Tomorrow Town.
For 2000 AD and related publications, Casanovas drew Future Shocks, Judge Dredd, Max Normal and Robo-Hunter. His bibliography shows the breadth of the international artists supplying Britain’s weekly comics: humour, domestic adventure and animal stories could sit alongside dystopian cities and robots within the same artist’s working life.
