Biography
Person.
Brian Bolland is a British comics artist whose precision of line and control of composition made him one of the defining visual figures to emerge from the early years of 2000 AD. After making his professional debut in 1975, he became closely associated with Judge Dredd, developing a meticulous, sharply observed approach that contrasted with the rougher energy of some of the strip’s other major artists while helping establish the visual richness of Mega-City One.
Bolland later moved into the American market, drawing Camelot 3000 and, most famously, Alan Moore’s Batman: The Killing Joke. He subsequently concentrated heavily on cover illustration, where his self-contained images became a major part of his reputation across titles including Animal Man, The Flash, The Invisibles and Wonder Woman.
