Biography
Person.
Russell Gallon is a British punk-zine editor, musician and independent record-label operator whose work grew from the DIY hardcore networks of 1990s northern England. Based in Hull, he edited the fanzine Charred Remains before joining Cardiff editor Dave Hopkin, whose Mad Monks zine covered a similar scene, to create Fracture.
Their combined publication began in the late 1990s and developed into a nationally distributed punk magazine while retaining the argumentative, self-published character of the zines from which it emerged. Gallon also ran Pig Dog Records and played guitar in the punk band Scarper!, connecting criticism and publishing directly with the music-making and record-releasing infrastructure around the scene.
