Biography
Person.
Quentin Tarantino is an American filmmaker whose work draws extensively on crime films, exploitation cinema and popular music. Reservoir Dogs in 1992 and Pulp Fiction in 1994 established his approach to dialogue, suspense and fractured chronology. Pulp Fiction won the Palme d’Or at Cannes, while his published screenplays also became widely read books.
Tarantino’s films use older recordings and references to earlier cinema as active parts of their storytelling. His later work includes Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He has also written about film for Sight and Sound, extending his interest in cinema history into criticism.
