Biography
Person.
Stuart Devlin was an Australian goldsmith, silversmith and designer whose work ranged from domestic silver to national coinage. Born in Geelong, he studied at London's Royal College of Art and established a workshop in the city. His tableware often combines textured silver with gilded details and strongly defined forms.
He designed the animal reverses for Australia's decimal coins introduced in 1966, and later the one-dollar “Mob of Roos” design. His wider commissions included the Order of Australia and Olympic and Paralympic work. In Britain he received a royal warrant and served as Prime Warden of the Goldsmiths' Company.
