Richard X

Richard X is a British record producer and remixer whose early Girls on Top bootlegs combined R&B vocals with electronic pop recordings. Released through Black Melody, these unofficial combinations helped bring the mash-up into early-2000s pop culture.

His work developed into new studio productions, including the Sugababes’ Freak Like Me and the album Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1. He has subsequently worked with artists including Annie, Rachel Stevens, Little Boots, Will Young, Erasure and Alison Goldfrapp. Black Melody documents a continuing practice that includes album production, singles and remixes across electronic music and pop.
