Biography

Person.

James Pearson-Howes is a photographer and director whose work connects fashion and portraiture with documentary projects about youth culture. His editorial clients have included VICE, i-D, Dazed, The Guardian and GQ.

British Folk Trilogy explored lesser-known traditions through three small-edition books. He also directed a film for Tate Britain's British Folk Art exhibition and collaborated with designer Liam Hodges on Silence Is Broken, bringing grime and folklore together. His book When I'm 'Ere draws on years photographing early grime MCs and crews. Across these projects, Pearson-Howes records forms of belonging and self-expression that sit alongside, and sometimes feed into, mainstream fashion imagery.
