Biography
Person.
Chris Cunningham is a British filmmaker, video director and audiovisual artist whose later reputation for disturbing, precisely engineered moving images began with work in comics and practical effects. In the early 1990s he was still credited professionally as Chris Halls, painting Judge Dredd material for Judge Dredd: The Megazine before moving further into model making, design and film.
Cunningham later became internationally known for music videos including Aphex Twin’s Come to Daddy and Björk’s All Is Full of Love, work in which prosthetic bodies, robotics, choreography and tightly synchronised editing turned the music video into a form of authored short cinema. The Björk film in particular became a benchmark for digital and practical effects in late-1990s music video.
