Biography
Person.
Pat Mills is a British comics writer and editor whose career helped create the conditions in which modern British action comics could become both commercially direct and politically abrasive. He was the founding editor of 2000 AD and played a central role in developing Judge Dredd, while creating or co-creating major strips including Sláine, Nemesis the Warlock and A.B.C. Warriors.
Mills’s writing repeatedly turns popular genres—war stories, science fiction, fantasy and superheroes—into arguments about authority, class, militarism, religion and institutional violence, usually without sacrificing the energy of serial adventure. With artist Kevin O’Neill he co-created Marshal Law, a deliberately savage superhero satire that extended those concerns into the American comics market.
