Biography
Person.
Michael Avon Oeming is an American comics artist and writer whose stripped-back, high-contrast drawing combines cartoon clarity with stories aimed squarely at adult readers. He is best known as the co-creator and artist of Powers with Brian Michael Bendis, a long-running series that reframed superhero mythology through police procedural and crime fiction.
Oeming has also built an extensive creator-owned body of work including The Mice Templar, Hammer of the Gods, Rapture and Sinergy, while writing established characters such as Thor and Red Sonja. His career has repeatedly moved between compact, graphic visual storytelling and mythic or hard-boiled subject matter, demonstrating how simplified drawing can carry considerable dramatic weight.
