Biography
Person.
Klaus Janson is a German-born American comics artist, inker, writer and educator whose career has helped define the visual texture of modern superhero comics. He became especially associated with Daredevil, first as an inker and later as a more complete visual storyteller, and with Frank Miller on The Dark Knight Returns, where dense blacks, expressive line and forceful page construction became integral to one of the most influential Batman works of the 1980s.
Janson’s practice has never been confined to a single production role: he writes, pencils, inks and colours, and has also taught generations of younger artists, making his career unusually useful for understanding the collaborative mechanics of American comics production.
