Neil Tennant

Neil Tennant is a British singer, songwriter and journalist, and one half of Pet Shop Boys with Chris Lowe. Before the duo’s success, he worked as an editor at Marvel and as a writer for Smash Hits, moving between comics publishing, music journalism and recording.

He met Lowe in London in 1981. Their first version of West End Girls was produced by Bobby Orlando; a later recording with Stephen Hague became an international hit. Tennant’s vocals and lyrics have remained central to the duo’s synthesis of dance music and pop songwriting.
