James Brown

James Brown is a British editor and writer who founded Loaded, the men's magazine launched in 1994. He began by producing fanzines and joined the NME in his early twenties, writing cover stories and championing acts including the Beastie Boys, the KLF and Happy Mondays.

Loaded brought music, football, humour and celebrity together in a magazine that became closely associated with 1990s British popular culture. Brown later edited British GQ, where he launched its Man of the Year Awards, and established his own publishing business. His books include the football memoir Above Head Height and Animal House, an account of his life in music and magazines.
