Nick Veasey

Nick Veasey is an artist who uses X-ray imaging to reveal the structures beneath familiar surfaces. His subjects range from flowers and clothing to manufactured objects, with the resulting images shifting attention from outward appearance to internal construction. Human figures become a means of questioning the visual distinctions through which people are usually classified.

His exhibition Inside Out at Fotografiska Stockholm in 2017–18 surveyed this practice. Veasey's books include X-ray: See Through the World Around You, Inside Out and the children's title X-Treme X-ray, produced in association with the Science Museum. His work places a technology usually associated with medicine and inspection into the contexts of photography, design and visual education.
