Jerry Hsu is an American skateboarder and photographer who grew up in San Jose, California. He became a professional skateboarder while still a teenager and later developed a photographic practice through blogs, zines and books, recording people, street encounters and unexpected details of everyday life.
His first photography book, The Killing Season, appeared in 2013. The Beautiful Flower Is the World brought together images from his mobile-phone photography blog. His photographs have also appeared in VICE, The New York Times Magazine and Lodown.
