Biography
Person.
Billy Idol, born William Broad, is a singer who emerged from London’s punk scene with Generation X, formed with Tony James in 1976. After the group disbanded he moved to New York and established a solo career, working closely with guitarist and songwriter Steve Stevens.
His self-titled 1982 album included White Wedding and Hot in the City. Rebel Yell followed in 1983, with the title track, Eyes Without a Face and Flesh for Fantasy. Extensive MTV exposure made his bleached hair, leather clothing and performance style central to his public image.
