Person.
Ronald Jones was an American artist, critic, curator and educator whose work connected conceptual art with political history, science and systems of power. He became prominent in New York during the 1980s, often using restrained sculptural forms whose meanings depended on carefully researched historical subjects.
In 1995 he invited the Designers Republic to develop Customized Terror for Artists Space in New York, bringing their graphic language into an exhibition about consumerism and religion. He wrote for Frieze and other art journals, taught at institutions including Yale, and later worked in experience design at Konstfack and service design at the Royal College of Art. He died in 2019.
