Tina Weymouth

Tina Weymouth is an American bassist and musician who co-founded Talking Heads with David Byrne and Chris Frantz. After studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, she moved to New York, where the group became part of the CBGB scene. Her bass playing helped give its art-school rock a strong rhythmic foundation as the music absorbed funk and other dance influences.

With Frantz, Weymouth also formed Tom Tom Club, whose Genius of Love became widely sampled. Their work extended into British music through production on Happy Mondays’ Yes Please! and appearances with Gorillaz, connecting New York post-punk with later British dance and alternative pop.
