Chris Donald

Chris Donald is a cartoonist, writer and co-founder of Viz. He began producing the comic in Newcastle in 1979 with family and friends and remained its editor until 1999. It grew from a small publication sold locally into a nationally distributed magazine, with recurring comic characters and irreverent humour.

Donald drew early characters and helped shape the magazine's written material. His memoir, published as Rude Kids and The Inside Story of Viz, recounts the publication's beginnings and expansion from the perspective of one of its founders.
