Biography
Person.
Dave Hopkin is a Welsh punk-zine editor and independent music organiser whose publishing activity grew out of the DIY networks surrounding 1990s skate-punk and hardcore. He edited the Cardiff-based fanzine Mad Monks and ran the Assembly Line distribution operation before joining Russell Gallon, editor of the Hull zine Charred Remains, to create Fracture.
The new magazine began in the late 1990s and developed into a nationally distributed, higher-production publication while retaining the critical independence of its fanzine roots. Hopkin’s activity also extended beyond publishing: he later established the Newest Industry label, named after a Hüsker Dü song, and continued releasing punk records in the early 2000s.
