Marie Severin

Marie Severin (1929–2018) was a comics artist and colourist whose career connected EC's horror and science-fiction titles with Marvel's expanding superhero universe. Her brother, artist John Severin, helped introduce her to EC, where she coloured work for Harvey Kurtzman, Al Feldstein and other artists.

At Marvel she worked across pencilling, colouring, cover design and production. Her caricature and visual humour were central to the superhero satire Not Brand Echh; she also drew Kull the Conqueror, collaborating with John. Her range extended from dramatic adventure to the practical work of shaping covers and preparing other artists' pages for publication.
