Phillip Lim is a fashion designer who co-founded 3.1 Phillip Lim with Wen Zhou in New York in 2005. Raised in Southern California, he moved into fashion after initially studying finance, and worked with designer Katayone Adeli before co-founding the label Development. His own collections brought a contemporary sensibility to everyday wardrobe staples.
His awards include CFDA recognition in womenswear, menswear and accessories. Lim has also spoken about his Asian American identity and the relationship between fashion, community and social responsibility. He left the creative-director role at 3.1 Phillip Lim in 2024, following nearly two decades developing the brand.
