Biography
Person.
Suggs, born Graham McPherson, is a British singer, songwriter and broadcaster best known as the frontman of Madness. The band's roots in Camden and the ska revival connected Jamaican musical influences with observations of everyday British life, giving their songs a distinctive mixture of humour, affection and social detail.
Beyond Madness, Suggs has worked as a solo performer, DJ, actor and television presenter. His memoir That Close follows his upbringing in Soho and north London through punk, 2 Tone and the band's success. Suggs and the City extends that interest in place into an account of London's changing streets and communities.
