Aaliyah

Aaliyah (1979–2001) was an American singer and actor whose recordings helped shape 1990s R&B. Her debut album, Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number (1994), was followed by One in a Million (1996), on which she developed a close musical collaboration with Timbaland and Missy Elliott.

Her songs include Back & Forth, Are You That Somebody? and Try Again. She starred opposite Jet Li in Romeo Must Die and worked on its soundtrack. She died in a plane crash in 2001, shortly after releasing her third album, Aaliyah.
