Biography
Person.
Shaky Kane is a British cartoonist whose work draws on the visual language of American Silver Age comics, monster movies, advertising and underground print culture without treating those influences as nostalgia. Active in British alternative comics and illustration before and during the rise of Deadline, he developed a deliberately bold, flat and uncanny graphic style populated by superheroes, giant insects, grotesques and suburban oddities.
His work for Judge Dredd: The Megazine included the eight-part Soul Sisters with David Bishop and Dave Stone, while his wider 2000 AD credits include Tharg’s Terror Tales and creator-owned material such as Pinhead Nation and Soul Gun Warrior. Kane has described a lifelong fascination with imported American comics, horror imagery and the physical look of cheap printed matter, influences that recur throughout his later books.
