Steve Bell

Steve Bell is a British cartoonist born in Walthamstow in 1951. After studying art and working as a teacher, he became a freelance cartoonist in 1977, drawing for children's comics as well as political and cultural magazines. His Maggie’s Farm strip appeared in Time Out and City Limits, and If… began in The Guardian in 1981.

Bell's caricatures include John Major wearing underpants over his trousers and Tony Blair inheriting Margaret Thatcher's staring eye. He has also made television animations with Bob Godfrey. His work brings the exaggeration of comic strips into the daily language of political argument.
