Biography
Person.
Mick McMahon is a British comics artist whose early work on Judge Dredd helped turn the character from a strong design into a lived-in visual presence. Joining 2000 AD near the beginning of its run, McMahon developed a rougher, heavier version of Dredd whose oversized boots, creased uniform and physical bulk became enduring parts of the character’s visual language. His angular, energetic drawing also shaped strips including A.B.C. Warriors and Ro-Busters, and he drew the first published Sláine story. Beyond 2000 AD, McMahon worked on projects including Batman and The Last American, carrying an idiosyncratic approach to line, mass and movement into very different fictional worlds.
