Biography
Person.
Jane Crockford is a bassist associated with the Mo-dettes, the all-female post-punk group formed in London in 1979. Previously a member of Bank of Dresden, she joined guitarist Kate Korris, singer Ramona Carlier and drummer June Miles-Kingston in a band that combined lean rock arrangements with rhythms influenced by dub.
The Mo-dettes gained an independent hit with “White Mice”. Their brief career placed Crockford within the network of women musicians reshaping British independent music after punk, with connections through Korris to the early Slits and Raincoats. The group disbanded in 1982.
