Brian Augustyn

Brian Augustyn (1954–2022) was an American comics writer and editor. At DC he edited titles including The Flash and Impulse, and became a frequent collaborator with Mark Waid, first as an editor and later as a co-writer.

He wrote the 1989 Batman story Gotham by Gaslight, drawn by Mike Mignola and inked by P. Craig Russell, an early model for DC’s Elseworlds approach to alternative settings. His writing also included Batman: Master of the Future, Black Condor and, with Waid, JLA: Year One.
