Biography

Person.

Asher Levine is a fashion designer whose sculptural clothing combines anatomical and biomorphic forms with experimental materials. He moved to New York in 2006, where nightlife helped shape his early collections. His practice incorporates moulded textiles, silicone and embedded technology, treating garments as constructed objects as well as clothes.

Performers including Lady Gaga, Grace Jones and Doja Cat have worn his designs. The relationship between bodily transformation and stage presence is central to this work: unusual surfaces and exaggerated shapes become part of a performer's public image. Levine's designs connect fashion, fabrication and the theatrical possibilities of popular music.
