Biography
Person.
Jerry Lee Lewis was an American singer and pianist whose forceful playing helped define early rock and roll. Raised in Ferriday, Louisiana, he recorded for Sun in Memphis and became a major star through “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” and “Great Balls of Fire”.
His career declined sharply after the public learned of his marriage to his underage relative Myra Gale Brown. He later achieved sustained success in country music, beginning with “Another Place Another Time” and recordings with producer Jerry Kennedy. Lewis also re-recorded his early songs for the 1989 biographical film Great Balls of Fire! and made the later duet album Last Man Standing.
