Pete Burns

Pete Burns (1959–2016) was a British singer and performer best known as the vocalist of Dead or Alive. The group’s recordings linked new-wave music with electronic dance pop, and You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) became their international breakthrough in 1985. Brand New Lover followed as another major single.

Burns’s appearance and public persona were a prominent part of the band’s visual identity. He later became known to television audiences through talk shows and reality programmes, including Celebrity Big Brother in 2006. His career brought together pop performance, fashion and celebrity television.
