Pete Waterman

Pete Waterman is a British record producer, music entrepreneur and broadcaster whose career grew out of DJing and an enthusiasm for American rhythm and blues and Motown. In 1984 he began working with Mike Stock and Matt Aitken, forming the production and songwriting partnership Stock Aitken Waterman.

The team’s hits included Dead or Alive’s You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) and Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s Especially for You. Their productions and the PWL organisation became defining parts of British chart pop in the late 1980s. Waterman also appeared on television through The Hitman & Her and Pop Idol, and received an OBE in 2005.
