Biography
Person.
Jim Morrison was an American singer and poet, best known as the frontman of the Doors. He and keyboardist Ray Manzarek had studied film at UCLA before forming the band in Los Angeles in 1965 with guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore.
The Doors’ 1967 debut introduced songs including “Break on Through”, “Light My Fire” and “The End”. Morrison recorded six studio albums with the group, culminating in L.A. Woman in 1971, the year he died. His poetry continued to circulate separately from those records; the surviving band members later created musical accompaniment for his recorded readings on An American Prayer.
